The Psychotherapy Curriculum
Woody Allen Incident
Woody’s big mistake raises issues for clinicians about incest and very long-term therapy.
An uproar occurred when the public discovered Woody Allen was having a relationship with his “stepdaughter.” Much of the discussion centered on two questions: first, was this an incestuous relationship? and second, if Woody Allen had so much psychoanalysis, how could this have happened, and where was the therapist? Our speakers address these questions.
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to:
Be able to define the family relationships that are the bases of incest.
Learn how to begin a discussion of incest with a client.
Become aware of treatment issues.
Learn about the auteur method of film creation.
Learn about termination issues.
