Dr. Fran Stott is the Barbara T. Bowman Professor of Child Development at the Erikson Institute - a graduate school of Child Development.  She has been a member of the faculty since 1979.  She founded and directed Erikson''s Infant Studies Program in 1984, its doctoral program in 1986, and was Vice President and Dean of Academic Programs for 14 years.  A clinical and developmental psychologist, Dr. Stott is currently focusing her teaching and research on parent-child relationships and social-emotional development through the life span. Fran Stott is also interested in professional development for those in the mental health, child welfare and legal systems who wish to understand more about the developing child. She is author of many articles and chapters, and co-author of What Children Can Tell Us, a book on assessing and communicating with infants and young children.  Dr. Stott earned her B.A. and M.A. from The University of Chicago and her Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
