Dennis Shelby, Ph.D., received his doctorate from the Institute for Clinical Social Work, the first doctoral student at the Institute to complete the program. He was also a Clinical Research fellow at the Institute, researching the psychological impact of testing positive for the HIV antibodies. This research was supported, in part, by a grant from the Institute. He has treated numerous HIV impacted men in his private practice and has presented his research and clinical approaches at state, national, and international social work and self-psychology conferences.
