Featured In: Volume 3:
deceased
Dr. Sifneos is the originator of Short-Term, Anxiety-Provoking Psychotherapy--the oldest systematically studied type of brief therapy in the United States. In this still controversial model, patient evaluations are crucial, and treatment techniques include the use of anxiety to "disorganize" the patient, in order to promote insight and growth. Dr. Sifneos is Professor Emeritus at Harvard Medical School. His book on this topic is entitled Short-term Anxiety-Provoking Psychotherapy: A Treatment Manual.
